"Constitution Week of San Juan County" is a family friendly, weeklong celebration of the US. Constitution that has made America free for over 200 years. The Constitution Week of San Juan County is a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to educating the citizens about the historical significance of the US Constitution and how it protects our natural rights.

There is a "Making of America Seminar" on Sept. 11th, 8:30am-4:30pm at San Juan College. Cost is $15 if registered by Aug. 11th. Seminar includes a study guide. Your family will see, hear, and learn the unforgettable stories that will be a learning experience your family will never forget.

Events planned during Constitution Week include the "Making of America Seminar" on Sept. 11th, Scout Merit Badge Clinic the 15th, Founding Fathers visit to the schools, a Veteran Memorial Service the 17th, and a Constitution Fair on Sept. 18th. The Constitution Fair on Saturday will have games, a Founding Fathers Town Square, entertainment, and more.

Constitution Week is funded entirely by private contributions to continue in the preservation of Liberty. Businesses can sponsor an event giving the organization maximum community exposure. There are a varitey of ways individuals can be involved during the week. The organization is not affiliated with any political party or organization and does not endorse any political candidates. It only teaches the historical and original intent of the US Constitution.

The San Juan County Republican Party is holding their pre-primary nominating convention at the Totah Theater in downtown Farmington. Come meet the candidates for Governor, Lt. Governor, State Land Commissioner, and Congress.

The pre-primary nominating process is utilized be each major party for two (2) principal reasons. First, the winner of the Statewide Nominating Convention in Albuquerque, on March 13th for each office will have their name listed first on the June 1st Primary Ballot. Second, if any candidate does not achieve 20 percent of the delegates at the convention, then they have a much more difficult challenge (getting more petition signatures) to stay on the ballot.

The funeral for Army Sgt. 1st Class Kenneth W. Westbrook will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Farmington Civic Center. Interment will follow at the veterans' section of the Shiprock Community Cemetery, said New Mexico National Guard Maj. Xavier Miller.
Westbrook, 41, died Oct. 7 in Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., after he was wounded in a battle in Afghanistan on Sept. 8. Westbrook, who grew up in Shiprock, is the second son who parents Ruth A. Westbrook and Marshall Westbrook, both of Farmington, have lost in Middle Eastern wars.
Westbrook's brother, New Mexico National Guard Sgt. Marshall Alan Westbrook, 43, died October 2005 when an improvised explosive device was detonated near his humvee in Baghdad.

We handed out about 290 copies of the Constitution to folks at San Juan College. We had several stimulating debates with concerned Americans. Take a minute to educate your children about the precious gift our founders have given us. Freedom is never more than one generation from extinction.

What can you do ? You can visit with your friends, family, and neighbors and discuss controversial things. Religion, Liberty, Government, Politics. Discuss your concerns, discuss your solutions. I have confidence that out of the many concerned citizens stepping forward that the leaders we are looking for will emerge. Look in the mirror. That means you.

Lujan - Teletownhall - Update

Congressman Lujan held his Teletownhall phone call last night at 7 pm. They indicated 2200 people listened in on the call at any one time. Several people asked him good questions, several people were fawning over the need for a public option to bail them out of their unfortunate situation. The Congressman relied repeatedly upon the GAO report discussing the impact of HR 3200, he glossed over the cost section of the CBO report, and failed to describe the full cycle impact of how the Public Option will not destroy the private sector health insurance field. There really is no free lunch Congressman, we cannot spend 3.6 Trillion dollars while losing 1.9 Trillion. Your continued example of the insurance company denial for a pre-existing condition problem is quite poor. Health Insurance is not a "Right", you are creating a system where Health Care is a privilege that the Government will bestow upon the chosen. If we get a link to the audio, we will post it here.

Remember to call Congressman Lujan today, be respectful, but ask him to vote NO on HR 3200.

Congressman Lujan, who was able to speak to 160 people in Taos on Saturday, Aug 29th, was unable to meet with us. Rather disappointing. We filmed the event...three (3) cameras were running. The Farmington Tea Party organization invites the pubic to attend a Townhall event this Wednesday evening September 2nd from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Henderson Performance Hall at San Juan College. Congressman Ben Ray Lujan has been invited to participate. Many San Juan County residents have written letters and made phone calls to our elected officials to petition them to vote on the side of greater personal Freedom and smaller government. Your attendance at this event will demonstrate to our representatives your sincere interest and concern regarding their votes on important issues.

The meeting is designed to inform busy citizens on the status of the $ 2.0 Trillion dollar Federal Budget, the $ 593 Million dollars of Stimulus spending in Congressional District 3, the Cap & Trade provisions of HR 2454, and the Health Care legislation provisions of HR 3200. A presentation of proposed restrictions on our 2nd Amendment rights will also be given by Cope Reynolds.

Wednesday, September 2nd, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at San Juan College, Henderson Performance Hall. This is a public event. We will be discussing the Federal Budget, Stimulus Funds, Cap & Trade, and of course Health Care legislation.
Congressman Ben Ray Lujan has been invited.

The facility seats 744 people. We will have a few speakers, then we will open up the floor/microphone to listen to your concerns. We will likely try and limit the questions/statements to 2 minutes or under each to ensure that all have an opportunity to be heard. We will attempt to answer questions that we know and we will be taping and forwarding these questions/concerns on to Congressman Lujan.

Some may ask why not have our Senators there. They of course are welcome. Our Congressman is supposed to be directly connected to the people. Tax raising bills must originate in the House, hence our focus in this area.

We will be handing out contact information for other organizations, for those interested in becoming more involved. Once we finalize the agenda...we will post more. If our Congressman will not hold the townhall, then we will hold it. Your concerns must be heard.

This Friday, August 21st @ 11:30 am at McGee Park (Convention Center Building)is the Energy Citizens Rally against Cap & Trade Legislation. With 3 hours notice...sorry for the short time, Tea Party Patriots from across the 4-Corners (Bayfield, Cortez, Durango, Aztec, & Farmington) gathered 30 hardy folks to protest at Buckley Park (12th & Main) in Durango at an Obama (Organizing for America) Health Care rally. By my count we actually outnumbered them. I think some of them are being paid as well. They were rude to us...but we did not falter. Congratulations to everyone who made it.

Today....Stimulus funds are helping to hire five (5) new unbudgeted police officers in Farmington. Another growth in Government courtesy of the Feds.

County Run Golf Course ?

Just a note of concern for the residents of San Juan County. It is my understanding that the county is including the operation of the Riverview Golf Course in Kirtland in next year's budget. I realize the acquisition cost will be very minimal but operation of a golf course is typically at a loss. I know the Central Consolidated Schools is wanting to turn it over to the county because they couldn?t afford
the losses. Building and equipment maintenance, utilities, grounds maintenance and all the personnel associated with the daily operation will never be covered by the fees. The county estimates that it will COST over $14,000 a month or a total of $168,000 a year to operate the golf course. At the same time county employees are being told to review services and cut back non-essential work, trim and cut where
you can, the old do more with less scenario. Should the county be looking at this endeavor? If you personally wouldn't take it on as a business why should the taxpayers of San Juan County? It is unfortunate that something like a golf course with all the expense in development and construction should falter and fail but when a person is on a sinking ship they bail out the water to save it, not pump it
in. I send this to you because I am genuinely concerned about government spending and I am a resident tax payer of San Juan County.
At a time when we should be looking at every opportunity to be frugal with every tax dollar, we shouldn?t add a negative revenue resource.

Please give his local office a phone call at 324-1005. Express your concern on the Health Care matter and whatever else is on your mind. Please be respectful as it adds to our strength. Tea Party Patriots across the state protested many offices. In fact, our Representatives sound like they may no longer be willing to hold Townhall meetings to hear your concerns? Funding Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Will Go Toward Farmington Transit

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Ben Ray Luján applauded the United States Department of Transportation’s announcement that Farmington will receive $790,312 through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for investments in city transit.

“The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is making important investments in our communities,” said Rep. Luján. “Today’s announcement that Farmington will receive $790,312 for its transit system shows that the these investments are making a positive impact on communities and improving our transportation systems.”

According to the United States Department of Transportation, the City of Farmington will receive $790,312 to purchase four 32-foot trolleys, two vans, and two small buses to replace others that have exceeded their useful lives.

This Saturday, as we celebrate our nation’s 233rd birthday, American Patriots in over 1,000 communities across the United States will be speaking out regarding the out of control spending, growth in intrusive government, and will be petitioning our Representatives to promote the freedoms that built our great nation.

We anticipate several thousand people will attend the Farmington event to deliver their personal message to our leaders through peaceful protest. Simple requests of our leaders, such as reading the legislation prior to voting on it doesn't seem too much to request, rather they seem to be common sense.

This is the second national protest rally to protect our Liberty from the incremental advancement of a great Leviathan. The first event in Farmington brought over one thousand people together on April 15th. On June 30th, over 200 concerned citizens met at the Farmington Civic Center to listen to speakers and understand how they can become more involved. This holiday event allows your voice to be heard.

Amendment X, 1791, to the United States Constitution states: The Powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are RESERVED to the States respectively, or to the PEOPLE.

We the People, have had enough of the irresponsible management of our country. We have allowed our Republic to be managed by too many corrupt egotistical Czars. A revolution is still brewing. A revolution takes place every two years in our great nation changing 435 of these individuals, but for too long the silent majority has not spoken. We will be silent no more. Representatives pay attention.

HR 2454, 1428 pages thick, capping our livelihood and trading away our jobs was passed late on the evening of June 26th with the vote of our 3rd Congressional District Representative Ben Ray Lujan, despite an outpouring of complaint from our community. Our very lives depend upon the affordable use of carbon, not another tax and not additional restrictions upon its use.

Repeated votes for 787 Billion dollar government “Stimulus”, an unbalanced and unfunded 3.6 Trillion dollar budget, Billions in hidden tax increases, 103 Billion in IMF funding, and the egregious outright limitation placed on the air we exhale, carbon dioxide, demand we speak out. Our voices will not be suffocated by this government, while we still retain breath, we shall speak out. The end result of this irresponsible Federal spending and mismanagement will merely grow the ranks of governmental workers, while destroying private sector jobs that allow our society to function. This is not sustainable. Our children and the unborn are already burdened with over 60 Trillion dollars of bills. It must stop. Our representatives forget that government does not create wealth, We the People do.

We ask all Participants to be respectful, comply with requests by the Police and volunteers to use the designated cross walk areas. Please bring your home made signs/ messages for our leaders to hear. We hope that we can line Main street between 20th and Browning Parkway.

Many people have asked how they can help. It is simple, tell a friend, tell a neighbor, bring your children, and show up. Petitions will be available to sign up to become more involved in the rescue of our great nation. It will take each of us doing what we can to restore the principles of limited government and promote Liberty. We ask that Patriots please bring a non-perishable item for ECHO Food Bank to the event. The April 15th event raised over 1,200 lbs of food for those in need in our community. We plan to make this event bigger than the last.

The organizers of the event wish to stress that this is your event. Please no vulgarity or inconsiderate behavior. American Patriots in over 500 cities across the United States will be protesting the wasteful spending and irresponsible management of the taxpayers monies, tomorrow, April 15, 2009. The Farmington Tax Day Tea Party was formed in coordination with the national Tax Day Tea Party protest (www.taxdayteaparty.com).

Big government enthusiasts believe that there are coordinated talking points from out of power Republicans, but they do not realize that this is a grass roots groundswell of Americans, whether they be in a named party or not, that are coming together to say with a united voice that enough is enough. “We the People” have had enough of the irresponsible statist big government spending, borrowing against our children and grandchildren’s future labor, and the wasteful entitlement mentality that has pervaded our nation’s capital for many years.

This April 15th protest rally is merely the first step by many concerned Americans to rally together to protect our Liberty from the incremental advancement of a great Leviathan. Although some may characterize this event and future events as ‘Right Wing Talking Points’, they miss the true meaning of the people’s protest.

Amendment X, written in 1791, to the United States Constitution states: The Powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are RESERVED to the States respectively, or to the PEOPLE.

The recent “Stimulus” Package will merely start repaving the bridge to nowhere. The end result of this irresponsible Federal spending will merely grow the ranks of governmental workers. Our representatives forget that government does not create wealth, the People do.

Farmington will hold two (2) main events, the main event from Noon until 1:30 pm at the Farmington Gateway Museum, and a second event(for those taxpayers who could not get off from work) from 4 pm to 6pm at Southwest Shooting Authority, 1301 W. Main Street. An approximate schedule of speakers is listed below, with former Congressman Steve Pearce as the featured speaker at both events. Radio, TV, and Newspaper coverage will occur throughout the Four Corners Area.

In addition to home-made signs, participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item that will be collected and donated to ECHO food bank on behalf of Tea Party Patriots.

Participants are encouraged to space themselves out along the sidewalk and grass area for the full length of the public property on Main Street. Hot dogs will be given away to hungry patriots during this lunch hour.

The organizers of the event wish to stress that this is your event. Please no vulgarity or inconsiderate behavior. We have the BarBQue. Thanks. I think we are ready to go. We just need you and your family-friends.
We will use the East Side of the Farmington Gateway Museum Area (Dirt Lot-Public Property), and of course the Sidewalk and grass area along main street in front. We would like folks to bring their own signs (ideas in links below) with their personal message for our representatives. Feel free to spread out along this area. Many believe this is just a Republican rally. This is just not true. Some folks need to pigeon hole things to fit their own pre-conceived ideas. This is an American rally. There have been plenty of bigger government Republicans over the years and the spending records prove it. This is about waking up our leaders to the facts that Government spending does not create wealth. The people create wealth. Government is good at one thing destroying wealth-whether you are still alive or when you die. Taxes take funds from your hands to allow representatives and government employees to spend money where they determine it should be spent. Please make this your event. Make this into what you want it to be. Be respectful, be patient, and have fun! Meet people and network with others. We will have some petitions there. There really is great strength in numbers as well as having our diverse viewpoints on many specific items. I want to thank all those helping to put the event together from whatever your background/history. This will be a great day. So invite a friend for lunch - Hot dog and come down and be part of history in the making. We should start speaking at 12:15 and run till 1:30. An e-mail blast will go out today. Blessings to everyone as we approach Easter. It is a great time to reflect upon sacrifice and the importance of religious faith in the success of our great nation. We have truly been blessed. As you celebrate this joyous day, please consider joining Americans of all political persuasions in assembly this next Wednesday, April 15th, to excercise your right to assemble and speak with great clarity to the political and executive leaders of our nation and state. Invite your friends and neighbors, the silent majority, to this event. You may ask what can your one voice/one sign represent? Your voice is the voice of Liberty. Many have sacrificed for you to retain this voice. With a little over three days to our event, please take a few moments to gather your thoughts. Think of an appropriate action or words for your sign. Then pray for our leaders to listen to the people and govern responsibly. Another step perhaps this Easter would be to discuss history and civics at the dinner table. Ronald Reagan said, "All great change in America begins at the dinner table." As we break our fast and celebrate God's love, we owe it to our children and grandchildren to speak up. I pray for a safe and successful event.

Many folks have asked about sign ideas. I came across this site that has some.
Of course you can be original too. Please bring a sign, posterboard.
I believe we have everything together, other than PEOPLE. Lots of them we hope.
We want to encourage folks to span the entire length of the sidewalk area when we
are not having our speakers. I will get a map posted of the area.
There will be hot dogs that will be given away if you don't remember your lunch.
